Introduction of Toubou Kusamakura

HOME

Shimabara Pottery Kiln,"Toubou Kusamakura" founded in 1985 is in contrast with other potteries recent.
“Useful and elegant vessel...and a vessel to feel well as it is used”is the way I want to think while working all day long.
Shimabara Pottery is made to use in different moments and situations in the daily Japanese life.
The materials are available in the region; the clay is from South Shimabara peninsula and the glaze is from ground of the Mayuyama mountain, the orange trees ashes and the straw ashes for example, are used to made original works of tableware, ceramic objects to tea ceremony, vases, etc.

"Flowing volcanic glaze Big square dish"
In the autumn of 1995 when Japanese Emperor came to Shimabara, a dish named "Flowing volcanic glaze Big square dish" was bought by him. And next year it was located in the reception room at The Imperial Palace in Tokyo during the New Year holiday. I was congratulated of that honor.
